Works For Me

6a00d83451c5ac69e200e55296ac148834-800wiThe thief striks again…the sock thief that is. Oh, you know who I am talking about.

That little guy that lives in your dryer. The one who takes one of your socks, for whatever reason. Maybe he makes sock puppets with them? Or maybe he fills them with rice to warm up to soothe his aching muscles after taking the socks!

For whatever reason, he takes them and NEVER returns them. It can be quite annoying. Especially if it’s your favorite pair of socks. Oh come on, you’ve got a favorite pair, too. Don’t you?

Finally, and end to the missing sock problem! My husband came up with this (while I won’t call it his own original idea, I am sure others do it too!) idea so we didn’t have to go out and buy one of those fancy, over-priced garment bags! We had this old mesh bag hamper that was falling apart and we saved the mesh bags. I was just getting ready to toss them when Mr. Lovely came to me and asked if he could use that for our ‘sock bag!’

Several loads of whites later we have yet to find a stray sock! It also helps that my rule is when you take a pair of socks off you MUST ball them up so they stay together till time to go in the wash! What a genius this husband of mine.

This nifty, and might I add re-purposed, laundry bag ‘Works For Me!’ See what works for others¬† at Rocks In My Dryer!

What is motivation?

*Motivation is the inner power or energy that pushes one toward performing a certain action. Motivation has much to do with desire and ambition, and if they are absent, motivation is absent too.*

I severly lack motivation, and as a mom we all know how important it is to be MOTIVATED! Hence the url of my blog. I figure if I have to sign in enough times it may just stick and magically appear. One can dream, right?

But I’m getting there.¬† Slowly. Very. Slowy. Can I blame it on the fact that I never had to do any chores or be responsible for much, if anything, as a child? Well I’m going to anyways! That is why part of my “new year, new me” mantra I am going to do my best to be a better house wife!

See for yourself…

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

and I WILL! With just a little motivation this house will look AWESOME! You are about to be overloaded with pictures as I show off my disaster of a home. Don’t get too excited…the mess is not the result of a tornado. Well not unless Riley counts as one! So, through out the week I will pick one room and clean, clean, clean!

Here we go…oh, and take cover!

Happy New Year!

Well, 2009 is here and as many say, ‘Out with the old and in with the new!’

So what’s new, you ask? I’m not good at making resolutions and tend to have the opinion that January 1st is not the only day of the year to ‘start over.’ I also don’t like the whole stigma that comes with ringing in the new year. Seems we all want to shed a few pounds, eat healthy, walk the dog more and the like…well I like to do things differently. Big surprise there!

So this year my new years ‘resolution’ is to improve on the things that I already do. Why add stress to an already stressful life…let’s ‘KISS’! (I really like air quotes, can’t ya tell!?) and no, I don’t REALLY mean to kiss. KISS…Keep It Simple, Silly!

What would I like to improve? Let’s make a list shall we…and remember kiddies, this is a work in progress. My list will porbably, I take that back, my list WILL change from time to time so don’t be surprised.

Time for the list…in no particular order. (does this thing have spellcheck?!)

~take better care of the house, I really don’t like to clean!

~spend more ‘fun time’ with the kids and get out of the house more.

~take a closer walk with God.

~keep in touch with friends, family and church family more often!

~cook more

~develop a closer relationship with my husband! Love ya!
